Emily Slutsky Black and White PortraitThis April, Emily Slutsky will be presenting at the 2015 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago, Illinois. She will be presenting her study entitled, Evaluation of the Accuracy and Consistency of Electronic Problem Lists in an EMR at a Clinical Research Facility, at the Physicians’ IT Symposium.  She developed this project along with David Herion, MD and Jon McKeeby, DSc.

The study delves into the assessment of Problem List management. In health IT, a problem list is the section of a patient’s medical chart that identifies the patient’s most important health information. Emily Slutsky and her team assess the quality and accuracy of this documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center. They identify ways to develop an informatics methodology to evaluate the problem list throughout an inpatient stay. Through this process, the team will determine the degree to which adverse clinical outcomes are recognized and documented.

The presentation will take place April 12 from 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. at McCormick Place in Chicago.
